TIMMELSJOCH PASS

"The secret gate to the South" makes a perfect base for unlimited hiking tours from north to south or the other way round. The scenic Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road, one of the most renowned alpine pass routes, starts right next to Obergurgl-Hochgurgl. The highest pass of the Eastern Alps offers splendid vantage points, uninterrupted panoramic views, crystal clear mountain brooks and quaint mountain inns. The panoramic road features more than 60 bends – a truly memorable experience especially for cabriolet drivers, motor bikers or mountain bikers.

PICCARD MEMORIAL

Built in memory of the landing of Prof. Auguste Piccard's stratosphere balloon in 1931 on the Gurgler Ferner glacier. Gurgl became world-famous over night!

The University Center is located at 1,9740 m above sea level in Austria's highest parish village, embedded in the scenic Alpine mountain ranges. The listed building can be found at only 5 minutes from the center, right on the ski slope in winter. In the summer it makes a perfect base for unlimited walking and hiking. OBERGURGL PICCARDSAAL EVENT CENTER

Event and congress center
The center of Gurgl was rebuild by the authorities of Sölden according to the plans of Dipl.-Ing. Peter Thurner in 1988/89. Besides the municipal offices and underground parking lots the main road also features the Tourist Office, the Post Office and the Piccardsaal event center with its eye-catching architecture in contrast to the traditional Alpine design.
