Double skiing pleasures

After the convenient winter start valid only in Hochoetz, the Ski Region offers double the fun on the slopes for the rest of the winter season as it has a common ski pass with the neighboring Kühtai ski area. For the first time all multi-day ski passes purchased in Hochoetz or Kühtai are valid in both ski areas from the coming 2009/10 winter season. Plenty of sports and fun are guaranteed within the two ski regions on no less than 78 kilometers of immaculate ski runs featuring 23 mountain lifts with a total hourly capacity of some 31,000 persons. Furthermore, a free skibus shuttle service is running on the 8 kilometer long road between Hochoetz-Ochsengarten and Kühtai.

100 percent snow guarantee

Hochoetz boasts 13 state-of-the-art mountain lifts and 34 kilometers of well-groomed and officially quality-sealed slopes between 1,500 and 2,200 meters above sea level, with two comfortable and easily reachable access areas: one access can be found right in the village center of Oetz, the other one in Ochsengarten. Over the last years a modern snow making system has been installed and improved. And from December 2009 Mother Holle has even more helping hands: 35 top modern snow guns guarantee endless skiing fun on all slopes until the end of season on 17 April 2010.

Watch out hobby racers! Since last winter you can take full advantage of a permanent race track on Brunnenkopf's southern downhill run; it is free of charge for everyone. A perfect chance for ski clubs, ski groups and single skiers to check their speed.

Eskimo feeling in the Snow Village

Since last winter Hochoetz has Austria's first Igloo Village above 2,000 meters - A really "cool" and contemplative art object made of ice and snow. The Snow Village is directly accessible on skis for all winter sports fans who are warmly invited to make a short tour of the village or to restore their energy in the Lounge. The icy seats are covered with warm and cozy sheepskin while spicy mulled wine and hot tea help to warm you up.

All those who want to enjoy a longer stay are strongly recommended to book one of the six Igloos for four persons or one of the eight Igloos for couples that guarantee romantic and twosome moments in a double sleeping bag at candle light. Nevertheless, ice cold is unknown at the Snow Village in Hochoetz - There are cuddly sheepskin blankets, frost resistant sleeping bags, warming rooms and even a sauna parlor for fighting the high Alpine temperatures. And when the day comes to an end and the ski lifts are already closed you will experience the truly outstanding atmosphere amid the winter wonderland. At candle light the snow absorbs all noises and sounds of everyday life.

Kid's Clubs for future skiing stars

The ski schools for children and the fun park in Hochoetz are the perfect place for getting in close contact with the white element for the very first time. Right in the center of the ski area, next to the Panorama Restaurant, you find a professional full-day Ski Kindergarten for young sports kids over two years. Here they can play, paint, do crafts and romp around to their heart's content while their parents enjoy unlimited skiing fun on the nearby slopes.

Jovial get together in Hochoetz

Genuine Tirolean hospitality can be found especially in smaller ski areas. Get an insight into everyday life in the valley and make new friends at the umbrella bar or in other quaint après ski locations - either at the base station of Acherkogel mountain gondola or at the heart of the ski area. At cozy Bielefelder Hütte (2,150 m) and Hochoetz Panorama Restaurant (2,020 m) with stunning views of the Alpine scenery, or at lovely Kühtaile Alm (1,988 m) and traditional Balbachalm (1,957 m) you can raise a toast on Tirol's renowned "gemutlichkeit" while sampling some of the valley's delicious specialties.
