Timmel Transit 2018
TRANSBORDER ROUTES AND CULTURAL REVALUATION OF THE TIMMEL REGION ACCORDING TO THE PRINCIPLES OF SUSTAINABLE GROWTH AND SMOOTH TOURISM
publicly sponsored by the European Regional Development Fund and Interreg V-A Italy & Austria 2014-2020
The main activities of this project focus on active engagement with the region’s Natural and Cultural Treasures as well as the revaluation of smooth tourism offers in the rear valleys of Passeiertal and Ötztal according to the principles of sustainable growth, and the creation of transborder walking trails and mountain biking routes. Among the unique highlights ranks the new Mountain Bike Trail traveling through one of the Alps’ most beautiful and pristine landscapes. A museum on the Pass will also give an insight into the documented 10,000-year old transit route across the col of Timmelsjoch, an important and very interesting cultural spot in addition to the already existing Pass Museum on the Austrian territory. The start of all development and marketing strategies for the regional tourism offers is planned for the anniversary year in 2018. Regional identity formation and transborder networking are indispensable when it comes to the area’s rich Cultural Heritage.
The development of themed products and services should especially give fresh impetus to the summer season, ensuring new dynamics within the secluded transborder region plus innovative approaches to future tourism in close touch with nature and in a resource-saving way.
