The Alps will remain in a very tense north-westerly current past the weekend and at the beginning of next week. With that, humid-cold air masses will steadily be compressed against the mountains, resulting in further snow showers. Persistent snow showers are expected especially along the mountains. A significant weather improvement is expected, but not until Tuesday. Residual snow showers will abate and initial gaps in the clouds will occur. The peak of the decrease in temperature in the mountains will be reached with that. In the base of the valleys the wintry cold temperatures will become noticeable at the following clear nights. Above snow the air can strongly decrease, causing bitter morning frost. Nevertheless, Wednesday and Thursday will bring bright sunshine and clear blue skies. Slightly more changeable weather is expected, but not before Friday, however, a significant weather deterioration is probably not expected.
