From there follow the path slightly downhill to the Gurgler Alm (8000 year old cultural landscape) and further to the Langtalereck hut.
From the Langtalereck hut, follow the signs "Klettersteig Schwärzenkamm-Hochwildehaus" south into the Langtal valley. Turn right to a green iron bridge and then up the Hochwildeweg, past the junction to the via ferrata and steeper over partially secured path passages around the northern foothills of the Schwärzenkamm into the wide basin of Gurgler Ferner. Continue on a moraine ridge south to the 'Steinerner Tisch' and at the end slightly uphill to the east to the Hochwildehaus.
Due to irreparable damage, the Hochwildehaus will remain closed until further notice.

Public transport
Enjoy a both comfortable and relaxing train ride to the train station in Ötztal Bahnhof. You get off the train in ÖTZTAL Bahnhof where you change to a public bus or local taxi. The current bus schedule can be found at: http://fahrplan.vvt.at

Obergurgl-Hochgurgl is located in the western part of Austria in the state TYROL, in a southern side valley of the Inn valley - the ÖTZTAL. For your arrival by car, you can plan the best route from your home town with the route planner online at https://www.google.at/maps

The following parking facilities are available in Obergurgl-Hochgurgl:- Car park Village center Obergurgl (in front of the church on the right, behind the multi-purpose building where the information office is located)
- Parking lot with coin entrance Parking Place entrance - valley station Festkoglbahn, free of charge
- Parking Hochgurglbahn valley station, free of charge - no parking at night
- Parking Top Mountain Crosspoint, free of charge
- Parking Hochgurgl, free of charge (very small parking)

Equipment
Appropriate equipment such as breathable suitable outdoor clothes for the weather, ankle-high walking boots, wind-, rain- & sun protection, hat, possibly gloves, is for all hikes & tours necessary. Please bring a first-aid box, a mobile phone, a walking map and if there is no hut on the way a snack and enough to drink.
