From the bridge over Fischbach brook in Längenfeld you follow the shore down the river. Cross Ötztaler Ache brook and continue on the footpath to the Plague Chapel. The trail travels in north-western direction through a lofty forest, then westwards into secluded Hauertal valley. Here you ascend southwards on the broad mountain ridge covered with Alpine meadows and gravel fields. Climb the steep trough behind majestic Hauerkogel until you reach a small gap close to the peak.
