Starting at Freizeit Arena, you follow the federal road towards the upper valley, turn right at the BP gas station after approx. 1 km. The climbing road takes you through the hamlets of Außerwald and Innerwald to the Glacier Road. Continue on the Glacier Road for about 700 meters, following the Route Gaislach (644) for mountain bikers. Through the shady forest and further on to the lush pasturelands of Gaislachalm. Great view of the Ötztal and Stubai Alps! Clinging cow bells will accompany you here. Past the mountain inns (refreshment stop) of Sonneck, Silbertal and Gaislachlam you pedal to the tour's highest point: the starting point of Nene Trail (696) - watch out for the cairn -  before you reach the middle station of Gaislachkogl Gondola at 2170 m above sea level.

The red Nene Trail is more beautiful but also much steeper, especially in the central part that requires excellent biking techniques due to rock-strewn stages and fairly demanding downhill stretches. Nene Trail joins the forest road which takes you back to the Broate Line (6027)  and the Gaislachkogl Mountain Gondola.

Author’s recommendation

The red Nene Trail (696) makes a great highlight for bikers of all skill levels. It travels straight across the forest, featuring some tricky and stony passages. Enough biking experience is absolutely required on Nene Trail.
