Turn-by-turn directions

Schweinfurter Hütte (2.028 m) - Winnebachseehütte (2.361 m)

Through Zwieselbachtal

Take the road into Zwieselbachtal, following the signs to “Winnebachseehütte”. Pass Zwieselbacher Sennhütte and continue through the woodless but verdant Zwieselbachtal. The road ends after 2150 meters. Continue on the footpath which climbs gradually through rubble and boulders fields and crosses several terraces before reaching the lush green meadows in lower Zwieselbachtal where you can see steep scree slopes to your left and right. The trail eventually climbs through a scree slope which can be a bit difficult and tiring. Don’t be irritated by the sight of Zwieselbach Glacier: in the summer there is no ice or snow on the way to Zwieselbachjoch which is located to the right of the glacier. To the west you can see mighty Breiter Grieskogel with its glacier. Once you have crossed the saddle the trail descends quickly during the first mile and then levels out as it reaches Winnebachkar basin. Cross the basin to get to Winnebachseehütte.
