Homely Kirchenkarhütte comes pretty close to the ideal of a classic Tirolean mountain hut thanks to its wooden construction, partly weather-beaten facade and traditional roof structure. The open fireplace inside adds to this cozy atmosphere, providing warmth in bad weather and cool temperatures. In nice weather you should definitely secure a (box) seat on the ample sun terrace as you can sit in the first row while indulging in the Alpine scenery with amazement in front of the icy giants of the high Alpine mountain landscape around Gurgl.
A selection of culinary treats also matches the atmosphere in the hut: traditional Austrian or regional cuisine is served here. If you are not a fan of bacon dumpling soup or scrambled pancakes (hardly possible!), you don't have to worry because a choice of international specialties can be found on the menu as well. Particularly recommendable: the sumptuous snack plate or “Marende” as we call it in Ötztal.
